Nose
Buttery toffee, raisins, dried cherries, baked apple and ripe pear. Festive spices: nutmeg, clove and cinnamon. Orange peel. A savoury, umami note that balances the sweetness. Slightly fruity and pastry-like, evoking Christmas pudding and Ecclefechan tart.
Palate
Rich, warm and unctuous on entry. Full, velvety texture. Notes of creamy Ovaltine, baked apple, milk chocolate, ginger and cinnamon. It evolves towards darker notes: treacle, orange peel, hazelnut and a touch of mocha. A final umami nuance with slight astringency adds contrast and length.
Finish
Medium to long. Dried fruit (raisins, currants, cherries), ginger, cinnamon. An aftertaste of orange oil and dry wood. With a few drops of water it becomes more spiced and the youth of the distillate is tempered.
