Chichibu Distillery was founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2007, near the historic Hanyu distillery linked to his family. Since 2008, the house has built an extraordinary reputation within Japanese whisky for its modest scale, its experimentation with barleys and woods, and its ability to produce young whiskies of great sensory maturity, owing to the climate of Saitama.
